Roger Conant

 Even lacking the traditional pointed witch hat, 

the Roger Conant statue does kinda look like a witch, doesn't it?

Tourists and those not familiar with Salem’s history 

often mistake the statue of Roger Conant for a witch. 

Conant was the first governor of English settlers in Salem 

from 1626 to 1628 and he was also the founder of Salem.  

I bet he'd be super offended if he knew 

people were mistaking him for a witch!
